What am I expected to do for the Schulfest?
A
Participation is voluntary but culturally mandatory. You will be asked to donate a cake (Kuchenspende) or work a 2-hour shift at a stand.
Tips
Avoid the standard chocolate cake; Germans love a good Obstkuchen (fruit cake). Volunteering for the grill (Grilldienst) is a great way to meet other dads.
