What is the Abitur and why is it so hard for foreigners?

A

It is the final exam of the Gymnasium. Your grade is a mix of the last two years of school plus final exams. This grade determines your university entry.

Tips

If your child arrives late in the German system, look for a Fachabitur path; it's slightly more practical and still leads to university.

アビトゥーア（Abitur）の最終評定には、最終試験の結果だけでなく高校最後の2年間（Qualifikationsphase）の全成績が累積して算入される。試験科目には高度なドイツ語の文学的・歴史的読解能力が要求されるため、高学年で編入した非ネイティブの生徒にとっては、評定平均（GPA）を高く維持することが制度上難しくなるケースがある。
