What is the exact process for my child's sick leave?

A

Call or email the school by 8:00 AM. For absences longer than 3 days, you must provide a written Entschuldigung or a doctor's Attest.

Tips

If there is an exam (Klassenarbeit) on that day, you almost always need a doctor's note immediately, regardless of the 3-day rule.

筆記試験（Klassenarbeit）の実施日に病欠する場合、通常の「3日以内の猶予規定」は適用されず、当日中に医療機関を受診して医師の診断書（Attest）を取得・提出する義務がある。証明書がない場合は無断欠席扱いとなり、自動的に最低点（6点、F判定）がつけられる規程になっている。
